LOCAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

The LGTA is a not-for-profit charitable association of around 60 construction companies located in Lincolnshire.  We are funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who are funded by a Government levy on the construction industry.

We are an Independent Training Group with the primary aim of facilitating training for our members. We also engage with educational establishments to promote construction as a career choice to youngsters.

Using reliable and high quality local providers we manage a training programme designed to meet the training needs of our members.  Our current training schedule can be accessed here.

Many of the courses we offer are free to our “in-scope” members, others are heavily subsidised.  If a construction company is registered with the CITB they are deemed as being in-scope.

In-scope member companies are asked to pay an annual membership fee of £50 to the Association; the first free course attended by an employee would usually more than pay for this.

As a Group member interested individuals within a company will have the opportunity to become Construction Ambassadors.  A Construction Ambassador is someone who inspires potential new entrants to the industry. It’s a fun, challenging and rewarding role that can involve anything from leading site visits, to attending careers fairs or possibly mentoring someone considering a career in construction.  The benefits to members include raising their organisation’s profile within the local area, engaging with education and enhancing their company’s corporate social responsibility status.

With the support of our Construction Ambassadors we also operate a Schools Engagement programme, visiting schools, colleges and careers fairs to promote the industry as a career choice.  Our flagship event is our Construction Week event held annually at the Lincolnshire Showground towards the end of September/early October.

In addition we provide advice and assistance to those seeking an apprenticeship in the industry or to those who are looking for a career change, alongside the information provided on the CITB’s excellent national “Go Construct” website.
